If I knew I’d be singled out for a search I would have packed lighter. The security person unzipped my carry on and it was like a sock cannon. Socks and bras flew out.

12/9 We got our negative Covid tests, and a free pen.
Well I got a free pen, Jeff didn’t get one. I forgot that the testing site was in a gravel lot and I didn’t wear good walking shoes. I tripped on my way in. I think they felt sorry for me, because they found me a chair and let me keep the pen. They really felt sorry for me when I asked them to spray hand sanitizer on the cut on my foot to wash out the gravel. That hurt as much much as you would expect.
12/7 Jan had her spinal surgery!
Great news! Jeff’s mom, Jan had her scheduled spinal surgery today. It went well and she is on her way to recovery. Soon she will be back to drinking martini’s. This picture is from a few months ago. While I’m sure she would like a martini, she just had the surgery, so has to wait.
Jan had spinal surgery a few years ago and it didn’t do what it was supposed to. She has struggled with constant pain and mobility issues for years. So happy she is on her way to being back to her old self.
Jan and I have already agreed that when both of our surgeries are done will will drink martinis together and toast our good health. Of course whenever I see her we drink martinis, but this time we will also do the toast.
12/6 We got the booster!
Thanks everyone for checking in with us.
We were able to get our booster shot today.
Hopefully this will help keep us covid – free on our flight to San Fran and pre-surgery.
12/4 update – surgery is scheduled
Thanks so much for checking in. So far this is our plan.
12/10 Fly Panama to San Francisco. Yes we are flying during a pandemic right when the omnicrom variant is about to run wild. We are flying direct on Copa Air. It’s a 7 hour flight on a pretty crappy airline that Jeff actively dispises. Should be fun.
12/12 Eat a low carb diet in preparation for the test the following day. Say what?
12/13 Have a PET Scan at UCSF – this is a test where they inject you with dye and then have a cat scan. I think there is something about glucose and if there is cancer somewhere else it will glow in the dark or something. This test will help detect if I still have cancer in my body that they will have to remove. I can’t have coffee in the morning, so forget prayers for me, pray for Jeff because I will not be happy that morning.
12/13 afternoon – Eat carbs, drink coffee and go back to work.
12/14 – 12/15 work as if everything is normal. This is actually super helpful for me. Forecasting coffee mugs and plastic tumblers is more relaxing than thinking about cancer.
12/16 Have surgery. Again pray more for Jeff than me. No coffee and we have to be at the hospital at 6:00am. I’ll give details of the surgery in another post, but it shouldn’t be that bad.
12/17 Come back from hospital to an Air BnB hopefully with good drugs.
12/18 – 12/25 Rest, read, watch TV, play games on my phone.
12/26 – 12/30 Go to Tucson to meet up with my family and celebrate Christmas.
12/31 Fly back to Panama.
1/1/22 Start the New Year hopefully cancer free!
