W2 Day 26

One of the side effects of Wasabi is something called neurathpy. It’s temporary (hopefully) nerve damage usually to your hands and feet.

I’m just starting to get it now in my fingertips. It’s not terrible, but it makes anything with texture feel really weird.

Luckily Sven helped me with some of the things that threw me off today.

He opened the almond milk. Turning the ridged cap hurts.

He’s opening anything with a zip lock top. Trying to pry them apart is really hard. This one was especially bad since it was a childproof zip lock. I guess to keep kids and idiots from eating Tide Pods?

He opened the shades. This cord hurts my hands to pull.

He wouldn’t let me near this pineapple.

He let me know that the towels are fine and did not get rough overnight.

Same thing with the kitchen chair. There is nothing suddenly wrong with the upholstery.

He gave up though when I told him his fur isn’t as soft as it used to be and he should use my conditioner.

W2 Day 24

Today we got the 4th booster shot. We for sure planned to get it but might have waited a few weeks if not for Wasabi. Because I’m immune compromised we had to get it.

I hate to complain because it’s great they have it here and are willing to give it to foreigners. But, the process was quite inefficient.

They opened at 10:00am, we got there at 10:02 and were done at 11:30.

At least we had chairs to sit on while we waited.

The problem wasn’t the people giving the vaccines. There were lots of them waiting to give the shots. It was a problem of registration.

When it was our turns one of us handled it better than the other.

And then we had a treat.

W2 Day 23

Now that I’m back to working full time (until the next Wasabi) I’m glad it’s Friday.

And I’m glad wine tastes good again. Still just having a small amount. But it’s so nice to have a glass of wine.

Another week and I still have hair. It’s kind of shocking. I’m losing a lot of hair but still have a crazy amount. Or I should say I look crazy with the amount I have.

W2 Day 22

I’m happy to report I like hummus again. I ate it the first day after Wasabi both times and developed an aversion to it.

It was a shame because not only was hummus one of my favorite foods, I also bought a gigantic tub of it at Panama Costco before this last Wasabi. Everyday it mocked me from the fridge. But today I had some and it tasted good again. Obviously a sign I’m on the mend.

They actually tell you not to eat your favorite foods for a few days after Wasabi. Next round I’m going to have all the things I dislike. Maple syrup, Peeps, Three Muskateer bar, and an Almond Joy bar. I’ll wash it all down with a root beer.

W2 Day 21

I’m so happy that my Wasabi schedule is every 28 days. Originally I thought it would be every 21 days which would have been today.

Instead I have another week to feel like myself!

Today we walked along the Cinta Costera. I love this walk and haven’t done it for almost a month.

I used to walk here three times a week during quarantine on my allowed days out. I had forgotten all the cool art.

There was a new statue that I haven’t seen before. It doesn’t have any plaque or info on it.

It’s pretty intense. If I had to guess maybe it has to do with the Canal?

It was near this bust of FDR so maybe not.

Even though I walked slowly abs we Ubered there and back (instead of walking from home) it still felt like progress.

W2 Day 20

I felt so good today I ventured into the lap pool and actual swam today. It felt great although I was going in slow motion.

I looked crazy when I got out. Between the tight bun and overgrow gray roots I sort of looked bald when I got out. But I don’t think I lost any hair in the pool.

By the time Sven got the goggles on he was too tired to go to the pool

Sven didn’t swim today but turns out sloths can swim. If you Google “sloths swimming” you will see some really cool videos. All these sloths swim faster than I did today.
