Pre treatment blood test

This picture is demonstrating how empty handed I was leaving the blood test lab.

The first time I got a blood test after being diagnosed they presented me with a little box. I thought, “Weird. I need to give a urine sample and the container is in this box? But I opened it to find this.

chocolate or soap? It was chocolate!

They told me it was a present from the lab. Then the women all showed me the necklaces they were wearing which were the cancer support symbol. 🎗🎗.

(Interesting side note. Each cancer has a different color ribbon. Ovarian cancer is teal. Breast cancer is pink. Yellow is several different cancers.)

I assumed this was going to be an ongoing gift but it must have been a one time only “Welcome to cancer” gift.

Not that I’m complaining. I’m trying to cut out sugar so I shouldn’t be eating chocolate anyway. There is also a supermarket in the same building so I can buy all the after blood draw candy I want. But still seems like I should at least get a sticker.

Today I bring the blood test results to the oncologist and then hopefully start the chemo tomorrow.

I hate saying chemo a hundred times a day so my new code word is Wasabi. As in tomorrow when I get my first Wasabi dose.

Radioactive! But Clear!

The good news is that my scan came back clear! I am cancer-free and ready to start preventative chemo.

The weird thing is that this is what they used on my test. I had my test on Friday and they keep the radioactive stuff in this metal box. When the nurse injected me she stood behind a metal half wall!

The craziest part was that at the end of the test a guy held a geiger counter up to me like in teh movies. And it beeped like in the movies!!! It was super weird.

But I’m good to start my preventative chemo. Not sure what the next steps are, but I’m ready to go!

Thwarted by supply chain issues!

One of these boats probably has the stuff for the test.

My test got put off a day. The lab doesn’t have the radioactive stuff they are going to put into my arm.

The test was moved to tomorrow (Friday) at 9:00 am. But, then it got moved again to 1:00 pm since they won’t have the radioactive stuff in the morning. I’m imagining they will start the IV right as a Fed Ex truck pulls up.

Good news! No more cancer!!!

I just got a message from my doctor. There is no evidence of cancer in the stuff they removed!!!

I still might need treatment but its looking good. My doctor is meeting with “The tumor board” on Tuesday to discuss my case. So not sure if there are next steps. I’ll keep updating as i know more.

Thank you everyone for all the prayers, positive thoughts and energy!!!

Test results are good. Cancer does NOT seem to have spread!

I haven’t talked to the doctor yet, but the results are posted on my chart and look good. No spread!

I still need surgery on Thursday so they can be sure but it’s looking good. Also want to point out I am not nude in this picture. I accidently bought a shirt the same color as my skin. It looked better in the store dressing room when I bought it precovid when you could still try things on.
