Today I was lucky enough to see my friend Robin. She lives in the Bay area and drove up to see me. I had been delaying her visit since it took so long to feel like I could have visitors, although I think she spent more time driving than visiting since I still get tired so fast.
It was so great to see her! We’ve been friends since Freshman year in high school and she has been amazing support during all this cancer stuff.
Today we were lucky enough to see our friends Kim and Deb. They are in town visiting Kim’s family and were able to stop by. We were able to sit outside in the courtyard and I even remembered to take my jacket when I left.
It was also lucky that today was one of my good days. For some reason it’s an every other day thing. One day I feel good and strong then the next day not so much. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.
Today I felt tired but still did my walking and resting. Sven and Sergio sampled the leaves at the new Air Bnb. Sergio is demanding bling which is why he’s wearing a necklace.
TodayvI made food progress on walking. This morning Jeff and I went up and down the stairs to sit in the courtyard. It was cold but then warmed up.
In the evening I went up and down the stairs again with Laura, to sit in the courtyard. I saw a jacket and thought what a shame that someone left it. Then I realized it was mine. I had left it down there in the morning.
I know this picture looks like all the others ones, but it’s taken in our new Air BnB. Due to the infection, we extended our stay. Our original Air BnB didn’t have availabilty, so we moved to a new one.
Jeff packed all our suitcases, loaded the car, drove to Laura’s where we hung out between checkout and checkin. Then he unloaded all the suitcases and got them to our new Air BnB.
All I had to do was walk from the car, but of course I’m the one complaining about how tired I am.
Today was my 2nd day fever free. So hopefully the infection is gone.
Sven and Sergio are on temperature duty so they make sure I’m checking regularly. I was able to walk a little bit further and sit up for a little longer today so that was good.
Today I felt really good. Still tired but I was able to sit up a lot more today. My sister Laura got me out for a short walk. It was only ten minutes long and I moved really slowly but it felt great. I’m hoping every day I can go a bit longer.
I’m back at the Airbnb surrounded by sloths. They pumped me full of antibiotics and said I was good to go. Besides being tired I’m feeling good.
Sven and Sergiob are mad at me because they didn’t get to come with me yesterday. At around 5pm I got a fever. That led to a call with the nurse and a trip to ER. I thought it would be quick and I didn’t want them to get lost or traumatized seeing an ER.
After a night at the ER in Walnut Creek they decided I have an infection in my abdomon. I’ve been transferred back to UCSF.
Right now I’m getting IV antibiotics and waiting for the doctors to decide if they need to put in a drain. But my fever is gone.
Not too much to report. Everyday I improve but it’s not as noticable. I’m still pretty weak. I lost blood during surgery and was on the boarderline for a blood transfusion. My doctor opted not to give me one which is good but its taking awhioe for my body to make more.
I am however back to drinking coffee which is great.
