It’s been one month since surgery. I’m a little surprised I’m not further along on my recovery, but my doctors aren’t. They’ve said it will take a full three months.
Tomorrow we take a red eye back to Panama. Our flight doesn’t leave until 8pm, so we have all day to pack and rest up.
Today I needed to rest after going out to dinner the night before. I did have energy to play board games with my parents and Laura. We played a game called Probe which was a board game from the 60’s that my parents played before they had kids. We didn’t really keep score but I think I won.
My parents are back in town for my niece’s choir concert. I pushed myself to go out to dinner. It was tiring but worth it, especially for sweet potato fries.
Today was a good day of resting and reading. Sven and Sergio made us smoothies for lunch. We had to stop them before they added leaves.
Jeff and I went out to lunch today. It required hours of resting before we went and after we got back but it was so worth it.
It felt great to be out in the world. By the end of lunch I was a bit slumped over. Good thing we were the only patrons.
My friend Nancy sent me this graph which is such a great way to explain my recovery. It’s going in the right direction, but its so up and down. Today was a good day, but one of sitting up then having to lie down to regain my strength from sitting up.
In other new, yesterday was International Sloth day. Sven and Sergio didn’t get to celebrate because they were busy taking care of me. But their brother Rodrigo in Seattle sent pictures of him living his best sloth life.
This picture is from yesterday when Laura took me to a coffee shop. It felt great to actually be out in the world. I only walked about 10 steps from car to table and we only stayed and hour but it was great.
Today has been the opposite. Ive been exhausted and tired. It seems like one day I’m pretty good and the next even more exhausted than normal. So, hopefully this means tomorrow will ve a good day.
Today I was lucky enough to see my friend Robin. She lives in the Bay area and drove up to see me. I had been delaying her visit since it took so long to feel like I could have visitors, although I think she spent more time driving than visiting since I still get tired so fast.
It was so great to see her! We’ve been friends since Freshman year in high school and she has been amazing support during all this cancer stuff.
Today we were lucky enough to see our friends Kim and Deb. They are in town visiting Kim’s family and were able to stop by. We were able to sit outside in the courtyard and I even remembered to take my jacket when I left.
It was also lucky that today was one of my good days. For some reason it’s an every other day thing. One day I feel good and strong then the next day not so much. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.
Today I felt tired but still did my walking and resting. Sven and Sergio sampled the leaves at the new Air Bnb. Sergio is demanding bling which is why he’s wearing a necklace.
