Mayan Museum with my parents

I promised my parents that we would not overdo it in the heat. But the first thing we did was climb all these stairs in 103 degrees to even get in the museum. You know when the railings are too hot to touch it’s not a good idea to go up the steps.

This statue agreed and felt sorry for us.

My parents were really good about reading the history and learning about the history of the Mayans while I goofed off.

This guy was impressed with them but still gave me the side eye.

This was my attempt at arty photo incorporating the ancient Mayan ball game with a photo of my dad.

We all agreed that the statue on the right seemed to be holding a hotdog.

We would have stayed longer, but the museum wasn’t air conditioned. We almost had to be carried to the door.

This guy also thought the museum was way too hot.

Later that night after we all hydrated we went to dinner at a restaurant serving traditional Yucatecan food. There were several women making tortillas who gave my mom and impromptu class.

Hers came out really well.

Jeff also got into making tortillas.

For some reason the only let him make a mini tortilla.

  1. The museums look awesome, too bad there is no air conditioning. Love that your mom was involved in making tortillas! & Jeff! Looks like fun.
