This is a picture of an arepa which is what Samuel taught us to make last night. It looks weird but is really good. Samuel is Venezuelan and this is a popular food there.
It’s basically a dough patty made out of corn meal, fried, baked then stuffed with different fillings.
He’s shown us how to make several times and I almost have it down .
He would let me form them, tell me they were perfect, then remake them when I wasn’t looking.
Jeff had no arepa training so wasn’t allowed to make them.
I’m feeling really good. So close to being back to normal!
So AWESOME! Looks so good! So happy to hear your feeling good! ❤️ & Hugs!
Thank you Amy!!💚💚💚
Yum!
I love to hear that you’re feeling good❤️
Looks delicious…what did you fill it with? And don’t worry…you can remake Jeff’s when he starts making them 😉
We had two fillings. One was like a chicken salad called reina pepiata. There is an entire backstory to this one which includes the first Venezuelan Miss Universe in the 1950s. The other one was ham.
looks amazing!
It was super fun.
